Should I choose to stay in North or South Crete?

The answer cannot be one-word as both sides offer many beauties, while we must not overlook the fact that the distance from one side to the other is short and does not exceed 70 kilometers. The North side will suit the younger crowd more who will find more
cosmopolitan events and nightlife, while the beach bars are plentiful. On the contrary, in the south the features are more qualitative as you will get to know the real hinterland better. You will find very good food, beautiful picturesque small hotels and crystal clear beaches with crystal clear waters. Also the prices in South Crete are lower and the services more poetic. The recommended places in North Chania are: Stavros, Kalyves, Tersanas, Agioi Apostoloi. In the South: Sfakia, Loutro, Fragokastelo, Plakias Sougia.
